| In the 1980ies, „Vienna Biocenter“ (biotechnology) marked the start of a new era for this quarter, which had many different functions for the city in the past – among others a quarantine hospital and Vienna’s biggest squatting initiative (Arena movement). Besides T-Center and ÖAMTC headquarter, Vienna’s biggest event hall „Wien Holding-Arena“ will be the third landmark. Buildings for research and media and a residential quarter next to an „urban wilderness“ attract visitors’ interest. In addition to the contemporary projects, some remarkable historical events will be mentioned. |
