Theophil Hansen: Buildings for Politics and Economy
The stations in his life Copenhagen - Athens - Vienna show Theophil Hansen (1813-1891) to be a European architect. He helped shape the face of Vienna, and some of the most prominent buildings on the Ringstrasse bear his signature. Significant developments in the city can be seen in his works: This walk emphasizes the development of democracy and the rise of capitalism, taking in e.g. the Parliament, Palais Ephrussi, the Rudolfshof and the Stock Exchange.<br>
