In the 1980ies, ?Vienna Biocenter? (biotechnology) marked the start of a new era for this quarter, which had many different functions for the city in the past ? among others a quarantine hospital and Vienna?s biggest squatting initiative (Arena movement). Besides T-Center and ÖAMTC headquarter, Vienna?s biggest event hall ?Wien Holding-Arena? will be the third landmark. Buildings for research and media and a residential quarter next to an ?urban wilderness? attract visitors? interest. In addition to the contemporary projects, some remarkable historical events will be mentioned.
