Sport and Soccer tradition in Vienna: from roman times to present days

The sport and soccer tradition in Vienna starts with the foundation of the famous Viennese teams like Rapid Vienna, Austria, Vienna more than 100 hundred years ago. The cultural phenomenon soccer goes back in Vienna to roman and medieval times. The royal family built up ballhouses to practice this kind of sport, completely different from the sport practice on public spaces in the inner city.
This combinded walking and public means of transport tour gives you an overview of the landmarks, legends and history of soccer tradition in Vienna. It shows you on the occasion of the European Soccer Championships 2008 the public viewing zone in the inner city and the biggest austrian soccer stadium in the Prater area.
